8/11/2012 Voudou Ritual

As the Temple of Eternal Light begins to open our rituals up to curious friends and acquaintances in the Bloomington area, we will rotate our ritual focus each month among the different spiritual traditions our members study and follow.

This month, Cassie will lead us in a ritual honoring the Voudou Lwa. Saturday, August 11.

Please gather at 7:00pm; ritual will begin sharply at 7:30pm. We anticipate an end time of about 10:30.

This ritual will take place at a private residence in Bloomington, IN. If you wish to attend and do not know the address, please contact Beckie Wagner or Midnyte Hierax for further information. Please keep in mind: if we do not know you, we will likely ask to meet you prior to the date of ritual and our time is limited; the earlier you express interest, the better. Also, an allergy warning: 2 cats, 2 (small) dogs present.

This ritual is not child friendly and we cannot offer child care; please make your own arrangements if necessary. Mature teenagers under the age of 18 may attend when accompanied by a legal parent or guardian.

Questions? Ask here, or via private message to Beckie, Midnyte, or Cassie.

EarthKin Lughnasadh 2012

EarthKin will gather on July 28, Saturday at 7:30 p.m. in Fellowship Hall
of the UU Church to celebrate Lughnasadh, also known as Lammas. This the
first harvest; the festival of first fruits. Please bring a piece of fruit,
berries or grapes to create a communal FruitBowl as we harvest the fruitfulness
of our souls.  Although the days are still long, the sun rises later and sets
earlier as the rhythms of the Earth is shifting.

All are invited to join us as we break the sacred loaf and  give thanks for the
celestial harmony which turns the Cosmic Wheel.  Bring a seasonal dish or libation to
share for the feast that follows.  Come early if you would like to help set-up.  No childcare
provided for this event. Molly Stewart and Jerry Nees will officiate. We bid welcome to
all conveners and friends.  Blessed Be!

Please direct all questions to Beckie at elmbeckie@yahoo.com.

"Brother (Mad Doctor) Beebz will be giving a beginner's guide to the modern chemical analysis of the 'Elixir of Immortality.' I'm especially looking forward to all of the newfangled charts, graphs, and other inscrutables."
From Thelemapedia: Alchemy is an early practice combining elements of chemistry, physics, astrology, art, semiotics, metallurgy, medicine, mysticism, and religion. Two intertwined goals sought by many alchemists were the philosopher's stone, a mythical substance which would enable the transmutation of common metals into gold; and the universal panacea, a remedy that would cure all diseases and prolong life indefinitely. Alchemy can be regarded as the precursor of the modern science of chemistry prior to the formulation of the scientific method.
